There was little choice
She was so sad inside
Never did fit in
Couldn't please anyone.

Imagine how she feels
So forlorn and alone
So Vunerable and lost
Easy prey for the vultures

What was it that made her run
Imagine the choices
Stay at home or leave
Venture into the unknown.

Faced with these decisions
She left her safe haven
Walked out that gate
Closed the door on her past

No thoughts of impending danger
No fear in her heart
A backward glance
One hesitant moment and she was gone.

Who could have known
What would happen then
Children have no fear
No concept of the dangers

If only there had been
someone to help her
face her fears and the torments
before she stepped out that gate

Someone for her to turn to
Someone to understand
What's the answer
We'll never know.

What a difference in her life
that would have made
In fact, what a different life
She would have lived.
