As the rain
glides slowly down the window pane
I remember the days gone by
When the world
seemed less complicated
and there was a twinkle in your eye.

Over the years there were many storms,
in weather, in heart and in soul.
Bringing me to this point in time
living according to life's role.

Somehow, you seemed
to miss the lesson
that life had for us in store.
You were
never happy with what you had,
you always wanted more.

We had it all
when we were in youth
because we had no fear.
As we aged and
adjusted to life's challenge
I embraced the love of God, so near.

You continued on,
in your wayward path
and left me all alone.
This too was our destiny,
For all our mistakes,
we have to atone.

So open up your eyes,
and let your heart be free,
no matter what life threw our way.
It was up to us,
how we answered the call.

That's all I have to say.
